I just started reading this book (arrived today) and so far I'm so impressed with Tozer's focus and tone. I agree with another review that it's "hard hitting". Tozer's prophesy, which was stated early in the book, readers will readily agree has come true. Personally, in my world, there is a quickening in the souls of Christians to know God more deeply and this book is a great help in bringing the truth into focus.
Looking forward to continuing the book. For me, Tozer has been so very refreshing as I have recently finished The Pursuit of God (for the 2nd time) and Knowledge of the Holy. Enjoy and God Bless!

I have always been a big follower of Dr. John MacArthur, but have now tried to start reaching out. A.W. Tozer was one guy I thought i'd try, and i'm so happy I did, he is a very conservative man who brings out a lot of Biblical points. He carries a heavy tone like MacArthur on how many are headed the wrong direction and need to turn back. Being this is one of the first books by him i've read, man it was good, i could hardly put it down! There is alot of sermon material packed into this book. And with that note it would be excellent for all ministers to read this book. I, for one, am really happy that I bought!

Hard hitting reading for the average evangelical Christian; nevertheless, this is a message that "mature" evangelicals ought to read. Tozer's insight into the Christian walk and its challenges is quite remarkable given that he has been deceased for 50 years!
