Charles Nolan Publishers Holiness: Its Nature, Hindrances, Difficulties & Roots

Everyone knows that we are called upon to be holy, but what exactly does "holy" mean and what does "holy" look like? With his trademark candor, J.C. Ryle strips away the gaudy ornamentation that many confuse for holiness and systematically unfolds the true beauty of what it means. Deep, rich, profound, and penetrating, this timeless classic is now available in this unabridged edition and includes a foreword by D. Martyn Lloyd-Jones as well as an exhaustive index of Scripture.

My son recommmended this book to me to help prepare the team I will be leading to Haiti in June. I'm only a couple of chapters in but have already gleened an amazing amount of info to use as we striving to personal holiness and "being holy as He is holy". I am amazed that this was written over 100 years ago - it is SO timely!

The writings of J.C. Ryle are simply life-changing. My copy of this book is wearing out, so, I will be getting another soon. The topics he addresses and the questions he asks cut deep into the heart. I highly recommend this book.

In a time much of the evangelical side of the Body of Christ is focusedon personal or corporate activity J.C.Ryle draws followers of Christback to true concept of Holiness which the Bible states withoutwhich one can never see the face of God

A friend gave me this book to review. I have a large Christian library in my home and if I had to give up all but a few books, this would definitely be one that I kept. Written in the 19th century, it carefully answers some deep-seated Biblical questions I have struggled with.
