My oldest child used this BFbooks guide for study during her 10th grade year. We have used many of their study guides for learning, as well. I would have to say that the history my children have learned with BF study guides is history that has "stuck" with them. This study is an excellent way to learn the material for this time period. While it is challenging, it is easily doable with a motivated student. My oldest daughter is now a junior in college majoring in history. This stemmed from her love of reading and Beautiful Feet Books' Guides.

Excellent way to learn history. There is a TON of reading though, so this is best for strong readers. But I recommend this as a great alternative to the "traditional" history book.

This guide covers some excellent works for the high schooler to consider in depth the period from the Civil War to Vietnam. Problem is the lessons are scattered to cover each book without integrating them chronologically. So you may cover all the events with the books listed and not fully understand the order of events, something a high schooler needs to master. The books covered in the guide are well worth the read, and as the guide is not expensive, I would say use this program in conjunction with a regular history program perhaps as part of a literature course or Honors History credit.
