I stumbled across this movie on Netflix a few years ago. I was looking for a new Christmas movie, as watching the same ones every year gets a bit too predictable. Midnight Clear did not disappoint. In fact, I consider it one of my favorite movies--not just in the Christmas genre. I understand why people might think this movie is depressing, and I wouldn't recommend it for small children. However, for teenagers or adults who are struggling with loss, loneliness, guilt, or other human emotions during the holidays, this movie is perfect. Midnight Clear deals with several characters who are dealing with different kinds of loss and grief, and follows them as their stories intertwine. The realness of this movie made it easy for me to relate to, and by the end I was filled with hope. Don't get me wrong, I still enjoy those saccharine Hallmark movies, but if you want something more realistic about how people deal with loss and love during the holidays and how a small kindness can impact someone's life, this is the movie for you.

I was so disapointed with this movie. It was way too slow. I have seen other movies about topics that were real and down to earth but not boring. I am so upset that I spent $12 on this movie.

This movie was depressing. While the issues addressed are real there were no solutions offered. Other than a few references that it was Christmas eve, I wouldn't have known it was Christmas. There was no Gospel message to offer these people hope and the "happy" ending wasn't happy. I could have watched this on TV (I've seen more references to God there) except it is too boring to make it to TV. I watched this with my mother-in-law and a friend and we all agreed that we had wasted 2 hours. I don't like leaving negative feedback like this, but I wanted to save someone from spending $12 for this movie.

The story centers around 5 different people - with different types of crisis they are facing: loneliness, poverty, feelings of failure, lack of purpose, loss of a loved one. Although it is certainly not an action picture, the story moves well and keeps your interest to the very end.

I recently purchased 5 movies from CBD, and I hit gold with all of them, and this one was in the top two. I love movies that keep you on the edge of your seat and there was no way I could have guessed the ending or anything in between with each twist and turn. Finally, a very, very good movie for the whole family to enjoy. LOVED IT!
