Just a word of advice: don't let the title mislead you. This is NOT a book of classroom-oriented Sunday school lessons. The term "bible study" here has a very different meaning. Think of it instead as a mini (really mini) Systematic Theology. :-)The book's 25 chapters each cover a point of doctrine (such as "God and Man", "Christ the mediator", etc.) and consist of a page or two (sometimes a few) which list several bible passage references supporting that doctrinal theme. Each passage reference (book, chapter and verse number, not any specific translation's text) is also followed by a sentence or paragraph of commentary from Schaeffer. So the collection of passages serve as a quick guide to understanding the biblical warrant for the chapter's title topic. This is what is meant by "bible studies".I'm not knocking it, but it's just not what I expected at all, even with the book description. I accept the blame for not realizing "bible study" could have this other meaning. I just wanted to help other readers who may expect it would be a book of "classroom lessons". Even so, it can surely be a blessing to readers. Fortunately, Christianbook offers here links to the book's table of contents and an excerpt. I missed looking at those before purchasing. Be sure to check it out to be clear on what the book offers.

I bought my first copy in 1973 brand new for just $.95. Money very well spent! It is a little like the Gospel of John, in that it is both simple and deep at the same time. An overlooked Schaeffer treasure. Get two copies and read them through together with a new believer.

I have used this book as Bible study, in its current edition and in an earlier printing, for many years with all ages and levels of believers and seekers. Its combined simplicity and depth have drawn many to grow in their faith. It is an outstanding resource.

This book is an awesome resource for doing "undercover" evangelism, discipleship, bible study lessons, and just plain old "faith building". For the price you can't afford not to have this book. This book is the heart of Schaeffer.
