Review 1 for Healing Victims of Sexual Abuse: How to Counsel and Minister to Hearts Wounded by Abuse
I would highly recommend this book to any church leader or anyone in the situation of counseling someone who is hurting from abuse. This book is a comprehensive guide to some of the areas that are hard to understand about this very common, sad problem. This book is however based on people's opinions and experiences and there were certain things I thought were a little odd, like some of the stories, but overall, I would highly recommend this book. I think that pastors should especially get and read this book so they know how to reach out and help. There was one letter from a hurting victim who explained how she reached out for help to other christians, they felt bad, wanted to help and yet in each case whether it was from lack of knowledge or simply ignoring her as they did not know what to do, she went without help and lived in pain, and was hurt more by people who said they wanted to help. It was a very touching story and one that the church really needs to hear as it is a very common problem. I believe this book can help to bring clarity and understanding and hopefully healing to the hurting victims of this pain.
