Liguori Publications Coping When Your Spouse Dies

Death. Most people don't want to talk about it. But when your spouse dies, your sense of helplessness, combined with your grief, often proves to be an overpowering blend of emotions. While many people grieving the death of a spouse believe there is no end in sight to their suffering, the key to putting their pain behind them--acknowledging the loss as a new life from God--is well within reach. This book will help you realize that, while you can't bring back your spouse, you can face your grief in stages that lead toward personal healing. The advice is simple, but effective. Your will learn not to bury your feelings, but rather, to go through the pain of the death and to look ahead to the life God has provided.

With marriage individuals become one. When one dies the other is left feeling that they are only half. I send this booklet along with cards to encourage the heart of the remaining spouse.

I was surprised. This author not only shared his experience but he also makes suggestions for helping you make this trial less traumatic. Good reading, not too short, and not too long.

When I purchased this book I wasn't sure if it would help one of my best friends with the loss of her husband of 25 years, since I had never lost a spouse. As she began to read it it she began to thank me and she continued to thank me for giving it to her every day during her initial period of loss. She told me she would not have known what thoughts and feelings to expect without this book and now realized they were normal. It seemed to relieve her mind and gave her as much peace as could be expected during her initial grieving period. Also, this book was small enough not to overwhelm her - she could read it in one day, easily. I would recommend this book to anyone who is going through the loss of the love of their life.

A wonderful guide to help with grief when a loved one dies. It seemed like the author knew exactly what stages were you going through, just exactly how you felt at certain times and some wonderful insights on how to cope and get through the difficult times. Its a powerful treasure to have and be able to go back to it time and time again when certain feelings come over you.

I purchased this for a close friend whose husband died recently. She read it immediately and said that it was a great help. It is short, so easy to read amidst the turmoil of early grieving. Good support.

This book has been very helpful to me. It acknowledged all that I was going through, and gave me the affirmation that I needed to know I was okay. I knew God had a plan for me, that when my husband died, God was not shocked and alarmed at what he would do with me now. This book helped me to make a resolve to allow myself to grieve in my way, and in my time..knowing that God would bring me through the other side, and I would experience joy again. I'm still waiting for my morning. But, the affirmation received from this book was what I needed to know that I am not alone. God is with me.

This is an excellent book to read on losing your spouse. It helps you to see that your suffering is something that everyone feels and you do not feel so alone. When you ask why did this happen to me and why now, it gives you examples as to how others have handled these question and makes you look at the death of your spouse and the hurt you feel in a new light. I read this book five years ago when my husband died and passed it on to a good friend a couple of years later and have now purchased another one an gave to my sister when she lost her husband this month. If you have lost your spouse read this book and look to God for healing. It happened to me and it can to you too.

Good advice for those going through the healing process after loss of a spouse that only someone who has experienced it can understand.
