I have bought nearly every discipline and parenting book that have been on the market for the past 7 years. I like to get a fresh perspective(keep them guessing, right?). This book was, by far, the most informative. It addresses both my children's and my reaction to life's daily problems. It also gives you specific ways to deal with problems while maintaining a close and loving relationship with the people you care for the most. All of this using the scripture as our guide...this book was excellent! It surpassed all of my expectations.

I normally don't write reviews for books, but I had to share how much this particular one has impacted our family. I have read at least 20 parenting books. This one exceeds expectations and excels in results. It's not just a book about the kids, it shows how honor affects the whole family and how we as parents can facilitate that. It helped me deal with my own anger/frustration/what can I do feelings and gave me EASY, straightforward, real-life tips that have already made a difference in how my kids and I relate to each other. It's so much more peaceful. The biblical foundation is rock solid in this book, and I've been very impressed with how many verses they correspond with teaching your child a certain boundary/value. Incredible wisdom and practical application. They also have a book called "Say Goodbye to Whining", in you and your kids, that deals more with instituting honor in your family. Good & Angry teaches that anger is useful to indicate that there is problem, but not to solve it. But instead of just making you feel bad about your anger, they give you help and ways to use it properly. (the book Creative Correction is also a great tool for practical ways to correct behaviors in your kiddos.) This book has literally changed our family life and strengthened the connection we have with our kids' hearts, so we've seen not just behavior modification - but heart change in them. I cannot urge you to purchase this book enough.

A great place to begin if you are dealing with anger personally and starting to see it in your children. Helped me pinpoint areas I need help in and to start learning when what Mom is doing or saying isn't productive; but coming from anger. Another recommendation is She's Gonna Blow by Julie Ann Barnhill.
