I am enjoying using this devotional book this Lenten season. The readings are short but very meaningful. The prayers tie in so well with the readings. I have especially been enjoying the Lenten action that is at the conclusion of each day's reading.

Good thought provoking lessons from Father Henri Nouwen. He sort of leads readers along a journey of conversion during Lent all the way through Easter week. These periods of penance and celebration, lavish with rituals, might help me become more sensitive to my own weaknesses and Christ's victory over sin. Through it all, Father Nouwen comforts and reassures me with reminders that God loves and accepts me even in my human state (full of sin). Each daily reflection from Ash Wednesday through the Second Sunday of Easter begins with thoughts from Father Nouwen on an appropriate theme, supported by Scripture, prayer, and a suggested activity (application)for spiritual growth.

It is one of the best books of its type. His writing is very captivating and the prayers he has written are very thought provoking. The daily Lenten action is one that is easy to do but reminds you of what Lent is all about.I only wish there were more books like it around. I thoroughly enjoy it.
