Cumberland House Publishing Elsie and Her Namesakes #28, The Original Elsie Classics Series (Softcover)

Harold Travilla marries Grace Raymond on New Year's Day. The happy couple honeymoons a Viamede, Grandmother Elsie's Louisiana plantation, and the rest of the family travels on the Dolphin to join them. Along the way, Grandmother Elsie and Captain Raymond regale the the children with tales from Southern history, and Cousin Ronald entertains them with stories of his native Scotland.

Lucilla and Chester welcome a healthy baby boy to their family, and the Dinsmores and Raymonds make plans to spend the summer as Crag Cottage, Evelyn's beloved home. Recommended for ages 10 to 14.

Penned in the mid-nineteenth century, the original Elsie Books were written by Martha Finley as a means to support herself after she suffered a serious injury. Finley wrote twenty-eight Elsie books before her death in 1909.

I love all the Elsie books and they are for all ages, as far as I'm concerned. I am 77 years old and first read part of them when I was around 15 or 16 years old. I am in the process of reading them again for the 3rd time and gave a full set of 28 to my 19 year old grand-daughter who has read them many times. I also gave a set of the 1st five for a gift to a young girl at Church several years ago.

These are great books for young Christian girls to read. I have read all of them. I really enjoyed reading all of the things a person can possibly go through and stay so close to God and be truly happy in the end!! Maybe we can all learn from Elsie.
