The Seeking DiscipleLexington, SCAge: 35-44Gender: male5 Stars Out Of 5Equal Time To Debate HellJuly 9, 2014The Seeking DiscipleLexington, SCAge: 35-44Gender: maleQuality: 5Value: 5Meets Expectations: 5I was happy to read this book and to see that the book allowed both men to express their views fairly and with the same amount of space. While Fudge (conditionalism) opposed Peterson (traditionalism), they did so graciously and were given ample time to prove their points.
In the end, depending on your view of hell, you'll typically side with that person. I felt that Fudge did a better job with his view than Peterson but was happy to see that Peterson did seek to deal with the relevant passages on hell and did not just react to Fudge.
I do recommend this book if you are studying hell. -
John H4 Stars Out Of 5May 30, 2001John HThis book gives a good, thorough presentation of the two views, and allows some debate over specific issues and scripture passages. These passages are well-exegeted according to the two viewpoints. The weakness, however, is its increasingly acrimonious tone: Fudge makes some inappropriate comments early on, and Peterson overreacts. This book nevertheless is helpful for those interested in this debate.
