I feel the ads leading to it's opening were a bit overrating.
There may have been a few mistakes in the narrative.
I expected something more stunning as per the ads excitement over the production of this series

Excellent adaptation and real close to what the bible says. I can't believe the History Channel actually did this series. The only things I have ever seen from them is the alternative stories (books that didn't make it in the bible) or trying to explain miracles scientifically. To just do a show about just what the bible says without any commentary is commendable. Plus the acting and directing was first rate.

The best video production I have ever seen of the Bible. Feel that it will hold the attention of young people, who can relate to it in this day and age.

This is a very interesting portrayal of history during the time Christianity was forming. This film is very graphic and does cover many events in the Bible but due to time restraints required making a series like this there were many short cuts that were taken. Some of the events portrayed were not as written in the Bible, but the thought was still there. I would recommend this movie series to everyone and I did enjoy it.

I am in awe of the work it took to create this mini-series. The level of violence was surprising however it does portray the struggles the Jewish people endured.
Obviously pieces of scripture were left out. When Jesus was baptized I wish they would have included God confirming His Love for his Son.
All in all it is worth every penny and certainly might help lukewarm Christians see that God is a loving God and is serious about His commitment to His people and their commitment to Him.

I watched this series on TV and pre-ordered the set right after seeing the first episode. For someone like me who didn't grow up in Sunday School, it really helped me to be able to see the story unfold. The only disappointment was that not every single story can be included, so some favorites are excluded. Over all highly recommended.

This series does an excellent job of taking a new look at some well known passages. While many events that unfold in Scripture appear cleanly laid out, study revels them to give a bit more latitude in understanding exactly how they happened. The producers here have does a good job of allowing us to view these passages theatrically in a new way.

I kept an open mind for as long as I could, thinking the producers were just trying to make it interesting to those that are unfamiliar, but the further along it went, the more I found myself actually getting angry at the heresy it betrayed. The way they portrayed Mary (I assume they meant her to be Magdalene) as being one and equal with (and sometimes even above) the 12 apostles; the way they portrayed Jesus as looking like He was surprised at anything (especially Lazarus opening his eyes); and while we're at it, the way they portrayed some of the stories that were amazing enough to stand on their own as the way they were written (like Lazarus), but completely changed them - all heresy!

I preordered this dvd because of the positive pre-show publicity..when I saw the episodes on cable I was appaled at the lack of biblical integrity of the product. my work schedule has been extremely hectic and I forgot to cancel the preorder. Now that it has shipped, I will be returning for a refund.

I was very disappointed in this film. The producers were obviously being politically correct . There were inacuracies throughout the film , Paul was a young boy when Stephen was stoned to death, just to name one. I would not recommend this film........

Too theatrical. I believe just the very basics would have been much better. Some important scripture was completely left out.

I was not pleased with The Bible. My husband and I started watching at what I thought would have been in movie form turned out to be bits and pieces of a movie put together. Man's interpretation of a movie leaves little to be desired. I did not get to see the movie on TV so many people were signing it's high praises. I was not impressed and very sorry that I even bought the Blue-Ray version...did not get my monies worth.
