The Bible Speaks Today Series, according to John Stott, is characterized by the following threefold ideal:
•Expound the Biblical Text with Accuracy
•Relate it to Contemporary Life
•Make it Readable
The equivalent print editions (22 volumes) in this collection are over 5,700 pages, and sell for $259.99 at CBD, and now, with Libronix, you can search every page for a passage or topic in only seconds. That is why commentary sets are one of the most popular ways to expand your digital library.

These 22 individual commentaries do a pretty solid job of providing insightful and relevant commentary on the Bible text. While the style of the commentaries varies a bit with each author, the overall quality is strong. The only real weakness of this commentary set is probably the age of the individual books, some originally published almost 30 years ago. Normally this wouldn't be an issue of significance, but in this series the language and examples for "Today" of which "The Bible Speaks" seem at times more than a little bit dated and out of place. For example, the Sermon on the Mount commentary, originally published in 1978, makes references to the "Christian counterculture" and other aspects of society at that time in history. If you can get past these outdated references, the rest of the text should be very helpful in increasing your understanding and application of the New Testament.
