In Politics for Christians Francis Beckwith seeks to introduce Christian students to the study of politics. Particularly, Beckwith addresses the legitimate question of whether or not Christians "should set aside their beliefs before they enter the public square." Moreover, Beckwith seeks to provide students with an understanding of democratic governments that appreciates liberal democracy as not hostile to Christianity and its participation in the shaping of public policy. In this way, Beckwith has written a primer by which students can understand democracy from a Christian perspective that also allows them to maintain and employ their beliefs in public policy. This book will make an outstanding textbook for both college and church courses seeking to understand Christian engagement in politics.
