As I began reading this book, I realized that I knew the back story to a couple of characters. I was pleased to realize that I had read the first book in this series about Milly and Nick.
In Hill Country Cattleman, Violet has been delivered to Texas by her older brother, Edward. She has barely escaped a big scandal in England and Edward is hoping that some time in Texas with their brother, Nick, will make Violet realize that the man she thinks she loves is not worthy of her.
Violet believes she will only be in Texas for a while and then will return to her true love. As time passes, and she meets Raleigh Masterson, Violet must determine the true desires of her heart. As she learns what it truly means to live for God, where will He guide her?
Hill Country Cattleman was a very enjoyable and well-written story. It is full of wonderful characters and an exciting story line. There is romance, danger, adventure and likeable characters. Even though I had only read the first in the series and this book is the sixth, I had no trouble at all following along. It can easily be read as a stand alone. I plan to read the other books in this series as well.
I received this book from the author when I won a giveaway on Christian Fiction Historical Society. I was not required to write a review, but happily do so.

Hill Country Cattleman is one of the first Love Inspired Historical books that I have read and it won’t be my last! While it was a short story, it was very sweet and I found myself enjoying the story from start to finish.
Violet has come to Texas in order to escape scandal back in England. She comes to her brother’s ranch and decides she wants to write a novel. Dreaming of returning to her love, Gerand, Violet makes the most of living in Texas. The setting of her life in Texas makes for the perfect backdrop for her novel.
Raleigh’s biggest dream is to own his own ranch someday. When Violet comes to town, he can’t help but admire the pretty girl. But when he falls for her, he knows her heart is taken by someone back home.
When another cowboy starts to notice Violet, he begins to make trouble. Who will come to Violet’s rescue?
Like I said, I enjoyed this book a lot. While some parts were slightly predictable, there were still things that caught me by surprise and the fact that things were predictable didn’t take away from the enjoyment of the book. While the book was short, the author did a great job of creating the characters and developing an enjoyable story. I look forward to reading more from this author and also more Love Inspired Historical books.
I received a free ecopy of this book from the publisher through NetGalley in exchange for my honest review. All opinions stated are my own.

This story follows the relationship of Violet and Raleigh. They come from two different worlds, yet seem to be attracted to each other at first site. Violet is from England where she lived a very plush life. Raleigh is a farm hand in Texas. When Violet is sent to Texas to live with her brother she meets Raleigh and how they come to know each other is the whole of the story.
I gave this book 4/5 stars. I thought the idea of the story was a great one. How the characters meet and get to know each other is entertaining. The problems started with the main character of Violet who was a bit confusing. She could be bold at times and then be very weak at others. I did like the minor characters and thought they helped the story flow. The character of Drew, a man who steps in and wants to marry Violet, was written the best. The biggest problem with the story was there were not enough interactions between Violet and Raleigh. There was just too much introspection and not enough conversations. I do think the story itself is cute though and worth a read!
I would like to thank the publisher for the copy of this book I enjoyed reading. I gave an honest review based on my opinion of what I read.
