"Surprised by Jesus" helps us to see Jesus in his original context, as the first people who encountered Jesus would have seen him, and more importantly how they understood him. This book highlights the importance of the Kingdom of God to Jesus' life and mission. The two greatest insights for me were into the Jewish understanding at the time of Jesus of "forgiveness of sins" and resurrection. Tim Stafford works from N.T. Wright's research and makes it more understandable for people not trained in academic settings. I highly recommend this book! It has helped me to see Jesus and his life on earth through new eyes!
