    While I am yet to familiarize myself with the other writing of Jimmy Long, I found The Leadership Jump to produce an excellent first chapter with declining subsequent chapters. I found (1) what appeared to me as contradictory notions (as the author first suggests that "existing [i.e.., modernist] leaders are not being asked to become postmodern but rather to recognize that the context we are ministering within has changed" & "Older existing leaders should recognize that they must both unlearn old habits and learn new strategies if they are going to be successful leaders in the emerging culture" — pages 29, 32), (2) repetitious references to existing and emerging leaders working together (while important, say it and move on?), and foisting an unwarranted omniscience (i.e., knowing what motives another) upon Scriptural characters (e.g., Peter recognizing Gentile influence emerging as the future of the church — THAT and he had a vision and witnessed the phenomenal reception by the same). While I have gleaned some good thoughts, I found Richard Hamm (Recreating the Church) personally more insightful in how the modern leader may navigate the postmodern waters.
