Students learning to read enjoy the satisfaction that comes from reading a whole book independently. These popular, illustrated storybooks, each approximately 16 pages long use words containing the phonetic elements taught in accompanying workbooks. As soon as students have learned the short vowel a, taught in the first pages of Workbook 1, they can read the first storybook, Mac and Tab. Each story contains only those words learned in the workbooks being studied. The 10 storybooks in set 1 use in context the words taught in workbook 1. The first book is Mac and Tab a story about Mac (a rat) and his friend Tab (a cat), who are recurring characters in the series. Other titles in Set 1 include: The Tin Man, Al, Tim, The Jet, Ben Bug, Ed, Meg, Ted, The Wig. To order the Workbook 1 that goes with these storybooks, use stock #360404

Great products. My 4 year old loves them. After she reads a story, she is then able to color it.

I have used these books to teach children to read for over thirty years. These books contain decodable words which make them easy to read. The stories are interesting and have meaning. I highly recommend these books. Kids love them!

I found these to be the only true "level one" readers on the market. Others I found used contractions, etc. and even fonts with the capital I looking like lower case l. Other "level one" readers used words that were way over his head, even in kindergarten. I highly recommend this to any family, homeschooling or just wanting to support their child's reading more at home in a constructive way that will not frustrate child or parent (like us).

My children used these books while attending a Montessori School and loved them! They were both reading Level one before they were 5. and what fun it is for them to read a complete book without struggling over words and blends they have not yet learned! We continue to use this publisher now that we are homeschooling.
