Inter-Varsity Press Mark: The Gospel of Passion

Card, the award-winning composer of "El Shaddai," "Immanuel," and other musical offerings, imaginatively leads the reader through Mark's portrait of Christ---not so much a formal commentary as a gentle guiding of the heart and mind toward new vistas on the text and ways Jesus can transform lives. 204 pages, softcover. InterVarsity.

Michael Card's commentary on Mark is a great way to introduce Bible study to new believers or rekindle the flame in seasoned Christians. His narrative brings a greater depth of understanding to the text as well as makes the gospel writer (Mark) and the Apostle Peter come alive in a personal way. I plan to use this book in my discipleship work - and give it often as a gift to young and old alike.
