This present books brings Gibb's encyclopedic knowledge of the subject within our reach. Gibb's seriousness, thoroughness, energy, and urgency breath from this book. First entitled A Primer on Preaching, as Gibbs matured so his study of the sacred art of preaching grew. His final edition was completed just months before his sudden homecall in an auto accident enroute to Hamilton, Ontario, for a two week series of Gospel meetings.

I love this book, we are reading it for minister class, Three chapter per class. I am already through the book. It is well written, the Author put alot of thinking into his writting. I want to purchase it for friends also. I love to read and when i am finish, it feel's good to know that I am more knowable than i was before.

I believe that this book will be the defining addition to any Preachers Library. It is written in a clear and Concise manner. The authors Ideas and Biblical References seem to jump off the page and come alive. I encourage all preachers young and old to purchase and use this Volume. God Bless

This is a tremendously helpful book especially for new preachers. This was a classic textbook for first year Bible school homiletics. Out of all the books that I have on preaching this is probably the one I consult the most to give really practical advice on sermon composition. It explains very basically and with many good examples how to construct sermons of different types (expository, textual, topical, historical incident, biographical as well as how to prepare your testimony). There is also an excellent focus on the life and call of the preacher. There is also excellent info on delivery of the sermon (do's and don'ts) and even how to critique a sermon. Overall probably one of the best practical books on homiletics.
