With the prompting of our pastor to read a different version of the Bible each year, I chose "The Message" only for its readability and flow - definitely not for study nor for quoting. I am pleased as it has met my expectations.

I have the Kindle Fire edition of The Message, and I just love it! I use it when I'm reading my Bible to help clarify or get a slightly different perspective on a passage of scripture. It's fairly easy to navigate, although not as intuitive as I would expect, as if you go through the whole table of contents to find the book for which you're looking, it takes forever. But if you go to the actual Contents, then you have a list and can select more easily where you want to go (this really is my only issue with it, but once I figured out the fastest way to get to where I want to go, it's been great).
I would highly recommend The Message on e-reader!

I am currently reading Proverbs with my 25 year old son in this version of the Bible. It makes the Proverbs sound almost "homespun." They make sense to us, whereas, we often have to wonder what was meant by some of the more archaic wording in the King James. While I use strictly the King James Version for study--especially of the prophecies, I love the way the author has made Bible truths become more clear by bringing the principles into language we can relate to today. It seems that Eugene Peterson has done a wonderful job of bringing the Bible into our contemporary speech. I think my son enjoys the readings, even though he usually claims to be an avowed atheist.

I have purchased the message as gifts to young people who don't really read the Bible. This version is terrific because of it's contemporary conversations. Our youth today can relate to the books and understand what is being said and commanded of us from God. no excuses,
now, not to read the Bible!!!! The Bible is exciting and is God's Word!!! The Word is the Word no matter how truthful words are written!!!!!!

I already had The Message without verses and use it all the time. When this new edition with verses arrived, I had trouble giving it away I like the size of it better than the one I have. I'll be watching for a sale.

I find that with most large print they still are not large enough,but this bible is perfect,makes it easy to read and I love the message bible so much because its easier to understand.

I bought The Message because I have heard it mentioned often and I have heard preachers use excerpts from it. I knew it was a paraphrase in modern English (I have had the Living Bible for years) but I was not prepared for how 'hip' it was. In fact, I found it rather flippant. I have several different translations of the Bible which I use to compare passages for a better understanding. This was why I ordered The Message. I would not recommend it to anyone as their only source for God's Word.

Large print & easy language has made this a great addition to my daily bible readings. I am having trouble with the verse layout as each verse is not numbered. I do believe it is just an adjustment though.
