It is full of hands on learning ideas and games that really bring the concept of each lesson into full understanding in a short amount of time. By the time I was done with the Instructor's lesson and the correlating text book lesson my child was ready to do the workbook exercise all by herself. We did not experience this with other math curriculums.

GC5 Stars Out Of 5ExcellentJuly 1, 2021GCQuality: 5Value: 5Meets Expectations: 5I love these Home Instructor's Guides! The answer solutions are clear and there are easy games that you can include in your math lessons. I have used these for various levels. My daughter has dyslexia and learns well from games. I don't use everything in here, but if I need to explain a concept in more detail, I can refer to this book..

nikiAge: 25-34Gender: female3 Stars Out Of 5Wish I had stuck with the regular teacher guideDecember 17, 2012nikiAge: 25-34Gender: femaleThe regular teacher guides for this series is so much easier to use in a homeschool environment than this guide. I don't have the regular teacher guide for this particular book, so I can't compare content, but the material in this book seems very similar to what I have found in the regular teacher guides for 1A and 1B. If the author added any of her own ideas, I can't tell. Either way, the material itself is good.
The problems I have are with organization, layout, binding and ease of use. First, everything seems to run together, and it is hard to tell one assignment from another. It is confusing the way the page numbers for workbook and text book exercises are placed in the text rather that on the margins like in the regular guide.
The worst part about this, for me, is the binding! The original guide is spiral bound, which means it lays flat, and it is easy to leave it turned to your current location to pick up and start again the next day. Easy to make copies of mental math exercises, etc. It is so difficult to teach out of a book that won't lay flat! For that reason alone, I would never buy one of these guides again.
The bottom line is, all content being about equal (as far as I know, it is) the original teacher guide is just plain easier to use. Adapting the instruction to suit a homeschool environment has been a complete non-factor for me. Can't wait to finish 1B so I can order the regular guide for 2B and be done with this thing.
