Wiseman is a highly respected conservative scholar, author, and editor. His work on 1&2 Kings is the best thing available for discussions of archaeological evidence and the historical reliability of these two OT books. This is especially needed on the books of Kings as their reliability has often been questioned. Wiseman's theological comments are not quite as strong, but are still helpful.

I have been very pleased with the quality and content of each of the Tyndale Old and New Testament Commentaries. I have found them to be a great resource to assist my preparation for teaching Sunday School.

I'm finding there is a lack of good commentaries on 1st & 2nd Kings from an evangelical standpoint. Thus, this commentary, although deficient in some passages, is on the whole one of the only good choices. I would recommend it for that reason alone.
