Another great book by Shelley Shepard Gray! I loved learning about Joshua and Gretta's story. It was wonderful to see the conflicts resolved and that even in the midst of the trials they trusted in the Lord and did not lose their faith. The next book in the series is ordered and I just have a day to wait to begin reading the second book.

As a harsh winter descends upon Sugarcreek, Ohio, we are introduced to Gretta & Joshua, a young courting couple with plans to marry. When a new English family moves next door to Joshua's family, he is captivated by their teenage daughter, Lilly, and begins to have doubts about his future with Gretta. While he knows he cannot court Lilly, he steps back from Gretta and she agrees that they need to think about and work on their relationship. Gretta begins to court Roland, who is steady & kind, but she realizes that her heart still lies with Joshua.

As Lilly's family begins to befriend Joshua's family, Lilly finally tells them that she is pregnant and her family moved to Sugarcreek so she could have the baby and give it up for adoption. Eventually, Lilly decides that she wants to keep the baby and begins working as a waitress in the same restaurant where Gretta works. As Lilly and Gretta become friends, a fierce snowstorm traps Gretta & Joshua in his family's store and they begin to see how much they mean to each other and no one else. Gretta and Joshua marry and Lilly's family attends the wedding. Will Lilly change her mind and keep the baby or give him/her up for adoption as her parents want? An intriguing tale of love, friendship, faith & trust. Can't wait to read the next book in the series.

Shelley's way of writing just brings you into the story. You feel the characters happiness or loss, whatever the feelings may be. I absolutely love Shelley's books/writings and she is my all-time favorite author. So I'm 100 percent sure you will love ALL her books.

If you like Amish, you won't be disappointed her books.

In no way has Shelley Shepard Gray asked me to leave a positive review. All opinions are my own.

Maybe it is a common occurrence in an Amish community for a courting couple to find themselves at a point in their relationship where they are both having questions about continuing or taking a break. Josh and Gretta have been sweet on each other for years, but something has shifted and neither of them knows how to fix it. As weeks go by, it starts looking like they may not be meant to be together. Another young man has his eye on Gretta, and a young English woman has caught the eye of Josh. As far as Gretta is concerned, I fully understand her desire to avoid the same kind of marriage her parents have. Her parents are either arguing or giving each other the silent treatment. When Josh is struggling with his thoughts and cannot seem to carry on a conversation, Gretta starts envisioning a marriage like her parents have. Both of them still have much to learn about human nature. I enjoyed the life lessons that were shared by the English neighbor and several other key people in the story. It seems that even the parents of Josh and Gretta also have some lessons to learn.

This is the first book in an older series by this author that I missed reading before. I really enjoyed this quick Amish romance. I enjoyed reading about Gretta and Joshua and especially Anson. I love the troubles that Anson seems to get into. This is a sweet romance and very inspirational. I enjoyed reading about Lilly and seeing how she works through her predicament. I definitely recommend this story.
