For our 9th Grader
We did a lot of research on this product-Science Shepherd Biology. We have used Apologia in the past and have found it to be good information, but it just didn't work well for us. They do put out great material all around. But with Apologia, we didn't really care for how it was set up. We thought we would try something different this year. So we bought Science Shepherd. We are really liking it so far. The author is very educated and writes from a Christian perspective. It is full of information and pictures. I really like how it's set up. He has lots of questions at the end of each chapter which is in the student book. This is not too hard for your student, though it is very challenging. It is packed with great information from a Godly perspective. The author had in mind to make it easy enough for the student to do alone. My daughter can read the chapter and at the end do the questions. He also has a schedule included which I love. So helpful. I also bought the lab workbook and it's great. This curriculum is going to make biology fun. So glad we made the purchase. I don't think you will be dissapointed.

When he talks about Darwinism. It is clear that he is a believer. He likes to write by saying evolutionist believe....and then he will say creationist believe....but throughout he says that the evidence the evolutionist claims is not supported, so it's false. He refutes it. He likes to speak from a third person perspective. In his chapter on Speciation and Adaptation, he could have easily used scripture throughout this chapter. That would have been a great time in my opinion and helpful. The author clearly affirms creation while at the same time letting the student decide for him or herself with the evidence he gives for creation. He does a good job. He clearly says that creation comes from God and that Darwinism is false.
From reading this book it is for sure that he is a creationist.

I think it's a great purchase. It is challenging, but overall I believe my daughter will learn a lot and have fun while she's doing it.
