CLC Publications The Bible: Fact or Fiction?

"The best evidence of the Bible's being the Word of God is to be found between its covers. It proves itself." In Part One, Dr. Witty carefully examines the internal evidence, applying eight reasonable tests to validate the Bible's claims. In Part Two, thirteen recognized leaders publicly state reasons for their faith in the Bible. Everyone who has wondered if the Bible is really God's Word now has reason to wonder why they wondered.

In reviewing The Bible: Fact or Fiction by Dr. Robert G. Witty, I must admit my own personal bias in favor of the Bible and thus a predisposition towards liking his book. To use a quote from Dr. Thomas D. Elliffs testimonial in the book, I grew up with a predisposition to the Bible as the true word of God. Those who scoff at my prejudice are possessed of theirs as well. The author admits to taking a simple approach to examining the truth and veracity of the Bible rather than a scholarly procedure. This, in my opinion, makes the book more appealing to a broader range of readers since everyone may not have the extensive educational background and Christian experience to grasp advance theological concepts and expressions that may confuse some. It is definitely written for all: the common man, theologian, philosopher and the scholar. This also makes the book an effective and useful tool in the ever increasing religious debates about the authenticity of the Bible that people of all ages and educational backgrounds could use.
