A valuable historical report on reformed theology and its development in the midwestern U.S. Gene extracted information from sources that gives virtually a play-by-play account of the major (& minor) players in the Reformed Church of America (RCA) over the 100 year period covered. While of especial interest to RCA members, this historical exposition is pertinent to other denominational members in the reformed tradition. It is fairly easy reading for the lay person and especially helpful for any teacher of Bible. Personally, I have taught an adult sunday school class for over 20 years and will find this book helpful in many areas of Bible teaching. Doctrinal issues are well documented and the RCA's continued support of its traditional statements of faith is presented clearly. My enthusiasm for this book is only slightly tainted by my brotherly relationship to the author.
