Teaching Textbooks Inc Teaching Textbooks Algebra 1 Kit, Version 2.0

Created for the independent, homeschooling student, Teaching Textbooks has helped thousands of high schoolers gain a firm foundation in upper-level math without constant parental or teacher involvement.

Extraordinarily clear illustrations, examples, and graphs have a non-threatening, hand-drawn look, and engaging real life questions make learning algebra practical and applicable. Textbook examples are clear while the audiovisual support includes lecture, practice and solution CDs for every chapter, homework, and test problem. The review-method structure helps students build problem solving skills as they practice core concepts and rote techniques.

Teaching Textbooks' new Algebra 1 Version 2.0 edition now includes automated grading! Students watch the lesson on the computer, work a problem in the consumable workbook, and type their answer into the computer; the computer will then grade the problem. If students choose to view the solution, they can see a step-by-step audiovisual solution.

Teaching Textbooks Algebra 1 2.0 includes the following new features:

  • Automated grading
  • A digital gradebook that can manage multiple student accounts and be easily edited by a parent.

This math program was recommended by another homeschool family and it really does provide great instruction and recordkeeping. I would recommend it to others without hesitation.

So far, we are almost through Chapter 2, my son is doing very well in Algebra using this product. I think the instructor takes small enough steps, so he is building a solid foundation for when the problems get more complicated. I would hate to think of attempting this class without a teacher. Thank you so much!

We love the Teaching Textbook Algebra 1! The program was very easy to install and the lessons are well taught. This is such a blessing to a busy mom with a number of children to teach!

Based on reviews and several recommendations by other homeschooling families we tried Teaching Textbooks Algebra I and ended up extremely disappointed in this curriculum. He spends more time teaching tricks and gimmicks with very little time spent teaching WHY a particular method should be used or WHY that method works. His "real world" story problems and examples are often prefaced with "now this would never happen in the real world, but I'm going to show it to you anyway," which makes my student question why she has to spend time learning it if it will never pertain to her. The computer graphics are dated and child-like (may appeal to a beginning-elementary age, but again this is Algebra!). My daughter intends to attend college so we are planning aggressive math and science courses (currently in 8th grade level work) and I feel this curriculum is NOT a solid start to upper-level mathematics.

This is a wonderful product. I do not feel that I can teach my daughter algebra so that she can understand. The Teaching Textbooks Algebra teaches the lesson, on the computer, then provides problems, on the computer, for my daughter to work out on her own. It is then corrected by the Teaching Textbook. If correct she goes on to the next problem if not she may redo the problem or get help. She does not mind doing her math this way.

Teaching Textbooks has surpassed all my expectations! This is coming from someone who views math as that scary monster under the bed... I was not confident that I could ever understand Algebra, but Teaching Textbooks brought it to me in a way that was easy to pick up- simple lessons, lots of reviewing. And answers to every single question I got stumped on (which may have been a lot...) The cd's were such a relief
to me whenever I began to get frustrated. This book explains some tricky concepts very clearly. The best part is that it's funny- I was amazed to have an Algebra book that I looked forward to reading, because it always made me laugh! I'm glad to say, that with Teaching Textbooks I both comprehended and enjoyed my math. :)
