I really liked this movie. I thought it moved along and had very intense scenes of evil which might be to intense for younger children. It showed how evil corrupts and how a good heart can win over evil. The movie also showed how the hearts of the children changed over time to be better including the young king who started out arrogant and selfish. This movie has several themes going on including how the young hero stayed true to his heart and didn't fall for the evil plots of the bad king.

I think this movie IS perfect for the whole family! It's not just for older teens and adults. Even younger kids could enjoy this. It has excellent christian moral messages and I would recommend it to anyone. I think just because there is a little adventure in it, some christian families that tend to shelter their kids a little TOO much might not like it. But I'd tell them, give it a shot! Let your kids have a little fun. Think of this movie as a Christian Indiana Jones as a kid! Can't go wrong there! God bless and keep making more movies like this!! The world needs more Christian movies that Christians and Non-Christians would enjoy! Great way to get the gospel out there to more people!!

After reading all the glowing reviews I was very disappointed to actually watch the movie. This movie is not for kids. The movie features killing (main bad guy chokes his henchman, poisons him, and throws him into fiery pit), violence, and romance (main actress makes romantic advances with tribal king, inappropriate for the age and situation). The action sequences are also pretty intense. I would rate this a PG-13 at best.
As far as film quality goes, the storyline is a bit hard to follow, and the wardrobe department skimped badly on trying to create authentic looking natives.
Is there a redeeming message, yes, but unfortunately the content of the movie makes that message only appropriate for teens and above.
If I could return it , I would.
