New Growth Press How People Change

A changed heart is the bright promise of the gospel. When the Bible talks about the gift of a new heart, it doesn't mean a heart that is immediately perfected, but a heart that is capable of being changed. Jesus' work on the cross targets our hearts---our core desires and motivations---and when our hearts change, our behavior changes. It's amazing to watch people who once seemed stuck in a pattern of words, choices, and behaviors start living in a new way as Christ changes their hearts.

I was obligated to purchase and read this work as part of a seminary course on biblical counseling. I enjoyed reading it more than I thought I would. The Bible-centered book does an excellent job of explaining the truths of scripture.

This book is one of the best books I have ever read, that is practical and to the point. As a biblical counselor, I use this book, as a tool, working with convicted sexual offenders; bringing them back to the Gospel; to repentance, and change. I would highly recommend this book to any and everyone. We all need to change! We all have sin/blindspots. Paul David Tripp and Nathan S Lane, are both very good writers, and speakers.

This is foundational work within the Biblical Counseling movement offering insights to why we do what we do--and (thankfully) how change can still occur. Well-written in a manner that anticpates questions and provides thoughtful answers. Great insight, I heartily recommend it!
