Ruth Haley Barton does a great job of helping a person understand the basics of each spiritual practice and then taking you through an exercise where you experience the discipline. Her approach is very warm and inviting. It makes you long for a deeper walk with God. I highly recommend this for personal use as well as a small group experience.
