Wonderful presentation-extremely informative and had a very dramatic, factual conclusion. Ray Vander Laan at his best !

Our church has been using the Faith Lessons for adult sunday school for years, and this is our least favourite so far. While I like the lessons he has to teach, the way he gets there is often difficult to follow, and based highly on speculation and subjective scholarship (which he does admit). Large portions of some episodes are long strings of information that he seems to struggle to tie in with the main theme of each message.
If you are interested in the Faith Lesson series, I recommend the episodes on the Exodus, which I believe begins with "God heard their Cry". They have much better flow and discussion is much more easily generated from each one.

Of all the That the World May Know lessons, this one
(especially the 4th and 5th on the DVD) are the most
powerful!

Ray VanderLaan's faith series is outstanding. Not only are they thought-provoking, but take you to the historical places of the Bible for those of us who will probably never get to the Holy Land.
His lectures there bring to life the New and Old Testament.

I have used ten of the Ray Vander Laan DVDs in a teaching prison ministry that I teach in. The men really enjoy the presentations. I'm not sure whether it's the historical and cultural aspects, the theological emphasis, or the scenes of places outside their current environment. Whatever the reason I will continue using these valuable DVDs in the prison and in the church.
Additionally, in our prison ministry we allow a time for discussion. The discussion is animated and often very thoughtful. It's been necessary to cut out our singing at the beginning of the Ray sessions.
