This DVD - as all of Ray Vander Laan's Faith series DVDs - answers questions that I didn't even know I had, because I didn't know enough to ask the questions. I better understand the history and customs behind why the people did what they did and now have a deeper understanding of the Bible.
I use this video series for an adult Sunday School, but it is also suitable for high school teen groups. The videos are about 15-20 minutes long with good material for discussion in the student book.

I did learn some interesting points about the early church and the cultural concepts attached to the meaning of what our Lord was saying to his followers. The only point I found not so enjoyable was the constant shifting back to the audience for approval.

We're studying Ephesians in my Bible study, and hearing Ray Van Der Laan's teaching about the Early Church, while he was there on site, gave us an amazing background to Paul's teaching and the people who were receiving his message. It always helps to understand the who? what? when? where? why? of the spreading of Jesus' Good News!

This study by Ray Vander Lann is just awesome. We have done several of his in a home bible study and everyone enjoys it soooo much.
