Barbour Publishing The Bishop's Daughter, Daughters of Lancaster County Series #3

Leona is Bishop Jacob Weaver's daughter and a dedicated teacher in a one-room Amish schoolhouse. After her father's tragic accident, Leona's faith waivers. How could God allow something like this to happen to one of His servants? Outlander Jimmy Scott comes to Pennsylvania in search of his real family. When he is hired to paint an Amish schoolhouse, Jimmy and Leona find themselves irresistibly drawn to each other. Can anything good come from the love between an Amish woman and an English man? What secrets will be revealed and what miracles await God's people in Lancaster County?

This is a wonderful read! It shows how God can work in ways we don't always understand. He is there at all times. He works all things for good to those who love Him.

this series. I enjoyed it, but I was disappointed at the ending. It seemed a crescendo throughout the trilogy but not, in my opinion, a fair explanation of how the ending played out.

Leona wasn't my favorite character of the series. However, I really enjoyed watching her story unfold, especially when stranger Jimmy Scott was involved.
I thought Jimmy's story finally coming full circle and being wrapped up was the best part of this book.
Certainly enjoyed seeing all the characters from the series continuing their stories.
Another enjoyable read!

It was a great 'clean' reading book, and I am so happy it ended with Jimmy finding his Amish family and especially Leona! Great Christian reading. Write some more soon!

I was so glad to see that Jimmy found his family. And so happy that the baby, now a grown man had returned to his family. My heart ached when he was kidnapped, although the young couple was suffering also, and Jummy's adopted father thought this would help his wife, and then he had so much guilt that he had to turn to drink to help him handle the situation. I also felt sorry for Jimmy's sister when he was kidnapped. I so enjoyed that fact that the reader finds out that his Amish family finds out what happend to him and that he had been treated well and had grown to be a nice young man.

This was an excellent book. It is a true showing of forgiveness, love, redemption & how somehow can run from God until there is no where to look but up. Her books always give a glimpse into Amish culture & their way of life.

The Bishops Daughter, the final book in the series is the best one yet! It covers the problem of what happens when a man falls for an Amish woman and hes an outsider. I love the characters and the outcome for Jimmys life is believable and heartwarming. There are twists & turns, making it a page-turner.Read The Bishops Daughter for a better understanding of the Amish and their ways. Read it for the sweetness of an authentic love story. Read it because its one of the best book on todays market. Ill give Wanda 5+ stars on this one.

I know I'm behind the times as I've never read a Beverly Lewis novel, so this was my first experience reading a novel about the Amish. It was a pleasurable journey for me. I loved the plot and the twists and turns. The characters were also well-developed. I think the author sprinkling in Amish words helped me to get a feel for their culture. It reminded me of a soap opera in that every time the secret was about to come out someone interrupted them. Can you say As the Amish World Turns? :) Seriously, I really enjoyed this story. It was unique in many aspects and the conflict was good and seemed very realistic to me. I don't want to spoil it for the reader so I won't go into details by identifying the secret, but I'll just say that this story will put a smile on your face and bless you as you experience God's hand moving in the lives of the characters. The Englisher's father's struggle with alcoholism was well developed and true-to-life as well, making this novel a page turner for me. Again, I loved how the secret almost came out about twenty times. I wanted to shout at the characters to stop interrupting them--the hero and heroine (like on the soaps when someone walks past them in a crowd who has been missing for years. You want to reach into the screen and turn the person's head.) The Bishop's Daughter is listed as general fiction, but had just enough romance to satisfy me. (Did I mention it was a "sweet" romance? Those don't normally appeal to me, but this was so well done I enjoyed it anyway.) I highly recommend this novel, and now I wish I had read the first two books in the series as well.

The Bishop's Daughter was absolutely wonderful! I "inhaled" it! It was so well-written - my only regret is that I didn't read it more slowly to savor it longer. I cannot wait for Brunstetter's next series...

The Daughter's of Lancaster County series is excellent, and the final book, THE BISHOP'S DAUGHTER, was so interesting that it was difficult to put it down. What a great ending! There is suspense, human interest, and intense family relationship situations in this story. The reader of this series, and especially this story, is in for a treat. I recommend it highly. Bravo, Wanda Brunstetter, for a tremendous series.
