Learn Language Arts Through Literature is a great program. I like that it's all in one. It teaches everything for language in a way children can understand. My oldest child did not like the writing from dictation (but she does not like writing at all unless it is strictly creative with no adult intervention). The reading selections are always wonderful and my children enjoyed them tremendously. LLATL is set up so that children can use words they misspell throughout the week as their spelling words. We supplemented the spelling because I felt my children needed more practice with that. Stronger spellers probably would not need anything extra. Overall we really enjoyed this curriculum.

This will be my third year using LLATL for my kids. I like that it is an all-in-one program, so I don't need to find individual curricula for the various parts of Language Arts. I will say, however, that I do use a different handwriting program and skip the handwriting portions of LLATL.

I needed a way to streamline our language arts and this curriculum has really fit the bill. It covers all the bases nicely although I have also supplemented the spelling with Spellwell C. It has just enough practice for each concept that my son does not get bored. My only gripes: the pages in the activity book should be perforated (or sold loose-leaf) and the teacher's manual should be spiral bound. I really like the book choices.

We have been working with this curriculum for about 3 weeks and I really like the integrated language approach. It does a good job covering reading and grammar, but I am undecided on whether we will need to supplement the spelling portion.

I just love this language arts curriculum. Learning Language Arts Through Literature is a complete system covering everything from penmanship to speech making. The kids don't get bored and they are finally learning how to implement grammar into their daily speech! I am very pleased with this product.
