I liked the continuity of generations portrayed in the
stories. An interesting look at what life was like in that
era.

This was one of the good ones. The first story, "Spoke of Love"" by Cathy Marie Hake was outstanding, I really loved it. The next one, "Spinning out of Control," by Vickie McDonough was also very good. I liked the first two better than the third one "Weaving a Future," by Susan Page Davis, but they were all worthy of reading. The first two just seemed to "speak" to me in a more touching way. Definitely one I would recommend.

I enjoy the light reading of story collections, but especially enjoyed the first story in this collection - and learning more of an early time in our country's history. The stories were connected but the connection got a bit more tenuous as they went.

Three stories of faith and encouragement. Three stories - three authors. A book you cannot put down from beginning to end. You finish one story and move right to the next story. The first story is a story of compassion and rescue. A widower, Samuel Walsh cannot stand to see Garnet Wheelock being abused by the ship person who brought her over to sell her as a bride. There is a lesson on compassion, healing from brokeness, etc. that lifts you up and encourages you in your own life. Then you follow that with Spinning Out of Control and learn about trusting others. Micah Walsh is gone trapping trying to provide for his family. When he returns, he learns his wife has died in child birth. Her cousin, Amy Rogers, is caring for his children. Amy's parents have died and left her with no place to go. Amy does a good job taking care of Micah's children. Eventually a trust evolves between Micah and Amy. Then in Weaving A Future one learns lessons in forgiveness of oneself and forgiving others. Sadie is drawn to Harry when he comes to buy horses from her father to breed. He promises to return in the Spring and when he does, Sadie deceives him because she is afraid he won't buy the horses and she needs the money. She does not know how to get out of the lies that are woven. When Harry finds out, he gets angry and leaves. A storm and robbers bring Harry back to help Sadie out and between that time both learn to forgive. You start with the first story and just keeping pushing clear through all three stories wishing for more.

I have been collecting these books for some time now and believe me the Virginia Brides is the "best" so far. I really like how they intertwine the scriptures in a good story that makes for great reading. Keep them coming!
