These are characters you can care about. This story deals with the tough issues we all struggle with in our lives. Although there is a lot of pain and suffering in the story, it is ultimately about hope and finding love. This story takes place in a two month period in the main character, Jacks life. If you have ever struggled to make it through a tough holiday season alone, you will relate to the story. Jack is trying to rebuild his life after a horrific event takes the lives of his family. Since all of us deal with the loss of a loved one eventually, his story is hits home. Jack asks the tough questions we all ask of God when bad things happen to good people and the answers he comes up with may surprise you. The story of Jacks family is revealed through series of family photographs and some of these revelations really touched me. There is a broad supporting cast of friends and family. The world they live in is a lot like ours and even though they mean well, they are flawed enough to not be much help or have all the pat answers. In short they are characters you grow to care about and think about after the story is done. I plan on using this novel as a gift to friends and family.
