New Hope Publishers Born to Be Wild: Rediscover the Freedom of Fun

Born to Be Wild is a delightful story-driven invitation to hop onto your "inner Harley" and live life as an adventure instead of a dreaded succession of midlife responsibilities and losses. Jill Baughan uses bite-size chapters that include wonder-filled stories, humor, and relevant Scripture to take us on such an adventure. The chapters are organized chronologically according to the stages of life, with stories that relate to childhood, adolescence, young adulthood, midlife, and old age. Baughan emphasizes that great joy and deep sorrow can walk hand in hand in a life in which an intimate relationship with God is the first priority. Each chapter has "takeaways," making this book suitable for use as a focus book for a weekend retreat or a five-week group study. Paperback.

We all need to have a little fun every now and then. Author Jill Baughan is an expert on having fun and she shares her experiences and wisdom in Born to be Wild: Rediscover the Freedom of Fun. Jill has had some painful times in her life, but she has never failed to remember the importance of fun and play. In this book, she shares her experiences and stories from all the phases of her life and helps the reader find his or her inner child. Each chapter has a personal story about how a little fun helped her deal with a painful or difficult situation.I had a lot of fun reading this book. It is inspiring to read about this authors experiences and how she never gave up on having fun and staying young at heart. So many times, we get bogged down by life and forget, especially as adults, that having fun is Gods way. Jill gives the reader a lot to think about with her Try This reflections at the end of the chapters and with several verses of Scripture throughout. I especially enjoyed the cow suit story. I cant say I would have the courage to do some of the things Jill has done, but I sure had a good time reading about them. It was hard to put this book down. It is funny, without being corny and it is heartwarming, without being heavy. Read this book and have some fun!Become a New Hope Book Review Blogger. Visit for more information.
