This book put into words what I knew to be true, but needed so desperatly to see in print where I could read them over and over. What comfort it brought to me when in a very short period of time, death took my 20 yr. old grandson and a dear friend, and my 15 yr. old granddaughter got pregnant. Illness and crisis were everywhere I turned and life was overwhelming. The book is an easy read and so worth it. I keep several on hand to give away when to those in distress and asking "why"?

I find some of Anne's books take a lot of focus and re-reading to stay absorbed, but this one was down to earth, realistic, refreshing and renewing as she puts the question why from an everyday perspective. It caused me to dive into Scriptures and think deeply about how God sees things. We always tend to question death of a loved one, sickness, etc. But Anne also refers to the quieter things of life - things not seen by others such as stress, depression, loneliness.... It was encouraging as well as gave insight and a different perspective of Martha in the story of Lazarus. Good read. Good thinking.

This book does as fine a job as of answering the challenging question "WHY?" This question had to have been asked a thousand times when Trey Irwin, a dynamic, committed Christian 15 yr-old in our church, was diagnosed with Adult Pancreatic Cancer. When told of his diagnosis, Trey's first statement was: "I will be healthy here or healthy in Heaven!" Over a 4 month period, Trey's message of Faith & Trust in CHRIST, went viral and touched people all over America and around the world with the "Pray for Trey" message. Trey's battle, his testimony of Faith, answered, as much as possible: "WHY?" This book is a great resource for anyone trying to understand or helping someone else understand - "WHY?"

This book has helped me in dealing with rebellious children and death of loved ones. Most recently I read through it when my beloved dog was accidently hit and killed by a car.

I read this book about three years ago and knew it would touch the hearts of those who suffer loss, pain, trials, and tribulations of all kinds. I loaned a copy to my cousin when she lost her mother, then sent my copy to someone who had just suffered a miscarriage. I decided to order 3 more copies to have on hand to comfort others who will need it. Lotz always gets to the heart of the matter--to the loving Savior who knows like we never can what it means to suffer!
