In The Rest of God, author Mark Buchanan says that the Sabbath is essential to our full humanity and faith. God set forth a rhythm of work and rest that if restored to our lives will bring prolonged life, enriched relationships, increased fruitfulness, and abundant joy. For the majority of us who have endless demands and stifling daily routines, discovering the "rest of God" is the solution to "not enough time."

I'm enjoying the down-to-earth style of Rev. Buchanan's writing. It's not a theological writing, it's a life writing. I'm looking forwrd to slowly digesting all the gems of wisdom that he's sharing.

God said the Sabbath was to be observed for all time. It is one of the Ten Commandments. For some reason, we believe we are supposed to continue keeping MOST of the Ten Commandments - but not the Fourth one. Or, we feel that the Sabbath, which God clearly said was the seventh day of the week, should be changed to the first day. This book is a must read for clearing up many misconceptions and wrong teachings that we have received.

We are using this book in a small group bible study. Our leader has a lot of material from which to work with in this book. We are having some great discussions. I can see it working in our lives and sharing with others who are not in the study and reading the book. (I will lend it to them when I am finshed with it.)

Excellent book. Gave me insight into a commandment that I had never really thought about other than "doing" church on Sunday. That is what the Sabbath meant before reading this book. This book openned my eyes to what GOD have given to me and all of HIS children with the command of keeping the Sabbath holy. I would recommend this book to anyone seeking to be at a new understanding of what GOD has commanded us and what GOD has given us.

I was really blessed in a big way by Chapter 14 in this book. God gave him the insight on how to counsel a woman who had a desolate past. He relates the very good things that then happened in her life. It changed the way he counseled people.
