A pastor for 25 years and this book went deeper into my heart than any other book besides the Scriptures themselves. At 56 years old I wish I had read it when I was 30. I would not have made many of the bad decisions I made due to fear and lack of faith in the sovereignty of God. This book helped me appreciate the personal development the Lord Jesus is personally doing in my life. An essential book to every pastor.

This classic book on how Christian leaders develop has sparked over 20 years of research which has confirmed the applicability Leadership Emergence Theory for both men and women and across multiple cultures. With Dr. Clintons blessing, I was privileged to conduct the research to demonstrate its applicability for Christian leaders who work in the corporate world. This book is currently the most succinct expression of the theory for ministry leaders and is a must read for anyone responsible for developing leaders or committed to their own development as a Christian leader. As an executive coach for Christian leaders who work in the corporate setting, I base my coaching approach on Dr. Clintons findings, with specific adaptations for the corporate marketplace. As I work one-on-one with leaders, they can see where they are in the six-stage life-long process of leadership development articulated in this book, understand how God has orchestrated their past experiences (pleasant and unpleasant) to shape them as a leader, gain insight into how to best respond to their current challenges, and know how they can prepare for upcoming experiences they are likely to encounter. They emerge with greater wisdom and clarity to lead from Gods authority with increased confidence. I highly recommend this book as the foundational resource on how Christian leaders develop over their lifetime.

The Making of a Leader by Robert Clinton is an outstanding book on the leadership development of a Christ-follower. As far as I'm concerned - next to the Bible - it is the most helpful and important book I have ever read! Whether you are a leader in the making or a veteran at leadership this book will enable you to see the processes, patterns and undeniable principles that God uses to shape His leaders in His Kingdom on earth. The Making of a Leader is a must read for anyone involved in Christian ministry.

Wow! WOW! This is the Christian leadership book that I WILL re-read and refer to often in my ministry calling. This book especially chapter 5, gave me some serious answers to what it is going on in this leadership calling in my life. I will be giving a copy of this book to 2 of the mentors in my life who invested in me, who saw something in me when I did not.
