Harvest House Publishers Sean Donovan, The Californians Series #3

Sean Donovan stands with a noose around his neck for a bank robbery, feeling abandoned by his father and by God. Charlotte Cooper saves Sean by offering herself. .. as his wife. Charlotte's aid is not completely unselfish, however - she owns the livery and needs a good blacksmith, and Sean Donovan fits the bill. Humbled by his new bride's actions and with new belief in God, Sean's heart is softened. Will Charlotte get more than she bargained for in her new husband? Will Sean's reaffirmed belief in God be able to break through Charlotte's hardened exterior and help her to love again? Lori Wick, softcover, 269 pages.

I really enjoyed the next episode of the Donovan family. Sean was a troubled kid and there more drama in this book as he got in trouble with the law. I loved watching the way the love of Charlotte and Donovan grew, but even better was watching his first Love return.

The transformation in both Sean & Charlotte is heartwarming. Going through all of their inner turmoil because of their sins or their pasts reaches into your heart, it's something we can all relate to. This is an excellent read!

If there is such a thing as a lovable outlaw, Sean Donovan is it--a bad boy with a good heart. Sean's conflicts and their roots are so understandable that while you heartily disagree with his sin, you can't help but be touched and hope he will find redemption. As for that redemption, Charlie Cooper is an unlikely, but fiery, funny, and entirely lovable tool in God's hand toward that end (though of course she doesn't know it. :) Lori's suspense could use some work, but this is the best Californians installment so far, largely because these characters are so refreshingly, wonderfully imperfect, but find a realistic, non-sugary path to the One who is.
