If this book showed more reflection of theGenesis 12:1-3 promise that Our LORD willbless those who bless Abraham's children and curse those who curse them and also if its phrasing didn't glare upon David's Isaiah 53 areas where he like a sheep turned to his own way, I could give this a higher rating. Because the LORD loved David and used him as an earthly ancestor to the Messiah, this book appears to violatethe Deuteronomy 27:16 command "Not toshine a light on one's parents (sins/faults)"and could have been worded much more graciously than it was.

A very enlightening book on King David's life. It was spiritual, entertaining, and educational all at the same time and written so the average person could understand what was being said instead of being so deep that you had to work to understand what Max Lucado was trying to get across to you. Great book.

As a book review blogger for Book Sneeze (previously known as Thomas Nelson), I immediately request to review a copy of Max Lucado's book when I saw it in the Available Books section. I have always been a fan of Lucado's book and I'm glad I got to review this book as well!Yes, I took quite some time to put up this book review (this time... ) but good things must be enjoyed slowly right?Anyway, back to the review of this book... I love the way Lucado put things in perspective. This book, "Facing Your Giants" tells us that nothing is big enough for our God to handle. Whether our problems are big or small, as long as we overcome and put God in our mind, we can overcome it no matter what!Go get this book now and you will not regret it! I hope it made an impact in your life!

Max Lucados book, Facing Your Giants, was in one word inspiring. I have never read anything by Max Lucado before, but this book makes me want to read more from him! The conversational style that he uses to convey the message of David and Goliath is extremely easy to read and very powerful. The way that he tells the story of David and Goliath through the use of Bible verses, while simultaneously relating that one story to everyday life is the perfect way to address the topic of the giants of our life. I really admire him for taking an up-front approach with this subject. Right away, he talks about how we all have giants in our life they just might not seem as big as Goliath. In reality, though, our giants are as big as we make them. Some may be larger than Goliath, some smaller but all have an effect on our life. All have an effect EXCEPT the ones we hand over to God. Dealing with some giants in my own life, this really put everything into perspective.I recommend this book to anyone. Regardless of whether youve been through a struggle, are facing giants as you read this, have family members or friends that are dealing with their giants or want to prepare for giants in the future you need to read this book! Remember there are giants out there. Giants that will try to conquer us. Giants that will try to make us feel defeated. But, no giant is bigger than our God.

This book is just what I expected from Max Lucado, easy to read and understand. Max sets the tone of great story telling in the very first page of chapter one, and He continues this simple easy to understand language. He sees into human nature and the Lord's love for His people and at the same time the reader is lifted up from his low thinking and living to the high altitude of heavenly thinking and living which in turn causes the reader to want to reach higher and live holier than he is presently doing and he knows the Lord wants him to. As one reads this book he has to ask himself if Max Lucado has read the same Bible he reads when one investigates the stories in the book and the Bible he realizes that Max does indeed read the same Bible but with a greater depth that he missed because of the little attention he paid when he reads the Bible. in this book Max is able to help one see so many lessons that pertain to life liberty and freedom. I whole heartily recommend this book to one and all.

I found this book to be a little on the boring side. It compares the challenge Davids life with that of our own. It is basically a biblical self help book and not a biblical information book. Don't get me wrong there are lots of encouraging moments in this book but nothing youve havent heard before. My favorite story in the book was the Vincent van Gogh piece in the dashed hope section, it brought forth some interesting facts about the artist that I never knew but there are very few enlightening moments in this book. For the seasoned Christian who has probably read and studied the story of King David to some degree this book is a retread. But for the baby Christian who is looking for strength to overcome lifes pitfalls I would recommend. Overall this book is a great effort and means well as it gives us encouragement to go on in spite of ,it just lacks originality

What is it you are facing in your life? What struggles do you have? Are there generational sins that you are in your family line? We all have things in our lives that will pull our focus from God. We let our giants get in the way of our relationship with God. Facing Your Giants, by Max Lucado is a book that shows how David dealt with his giants. By following the examples of David, you will find that you are able to not only face your giants but also to defeat them. I have heard it said that God doesnt call the equipped, but he equips the called. So you, no matter what you have done or who you have been can answer that call. The evidence is in the Bible in the life of David and is shown in this book. Max shows you that when you focus on God, your giants do not seem so large and they can be managed. With clear Bible references you can see how God is in control; you just need to focus on Him. I highly recommend this book to anyone who is struggling in their walk with Christ. God is waiting to help you face your giants.Focus on giantsyou stumble.Focus on Godyour giants tumble. Facing Your Giants, Max Lucado

I ordered this book & study guide for a Men's bible study group. Wasn't sure how the men would react, and was blessed to see how each man quickly embraced the study and opened up producing a deep, personal study.
