Review 1 for What's the Big Deal About Other Religions? Answering the Questions About Beliefs & Practices

I guess I should've looked the book over more carefully at the bookstore. I expected much more factual information about other religions. (Unfortunately, many of their "facts" are incorrect.) I did not expect the frequent "we're right and everybody else is wrong" portions. I was upset by some of the authors' claims and wanted to let them know how I felt. Then I decided that prayer is a much better answer. So, I'm praying that I become more understanding of fundamentalists. I'm also praying that the authors develop an understanding that the big deal about others religions is that God's spirit of love, peace, grace and mercy is flowing through these religions. As for people who don't believe in God, I think that God's love is in them also. They just haven't discovered it yet.I think this book will push more people away from belief than it welcomes.God bless us all!

Review 2 for What's the Big Deal About Other Religions? Answering the Questions About Beliefs & Practices
I found Whats the Big Deal About Other Religions the most accessible introductory work on comparative religions written for an evangelical audience that Ive ever read. Ive never read a work on apologetics as rapidly as I did this title. The easy to read writing style allows any reader interested in exploring religious differences to get their toes wet in a short period of time. I can see this book being used widely in Christian churches as the foundation for group studies and to equip evangelists. The average believer would also do well to take the time to read this work to acquire the basic beliefs of a variety of religions. Since becoming a Christian Ive been surprised with the insularity of our faith, how little we know about the world around us. It is vitally important for Christians to know what those unfamiliar with Jesus believe. How difficult it is to reach the world for Christ if we wont come out of our shells. Let me allay your fears - the authors do not make other religions seem appealing, learning about them should not lead a believer to stumble in their walk. Perhaps readers of this book will feel the Lord leading them to pursue further studies in apologetics, focusing on a specific religious group; enabling them to effectively reach its adherents with the message of hope to be found in Jesus.

Review 3 for What's the Big Deal About Other Religions? Answering the Questions About Beliefs & Practices

As a devout Roman Catholic, I was appalled when I read the chapter on Roman Catholicism. It is obvious to me that the author is extremely biased in his views and did not adequately research the Catholic Church's teachings. He took bits and pieces of truth and STRETCHED it for his own agenda. It saddens me that he is misrepresenting the Catholic faith and leading many astray. I pray for the author that the Holy Spirit may show him the error of the ways and I ask all of you to disregard what he wrote and study it from a truly Catholic source. The only way you will know and understand Catholic teaching is to learn it from a trusted Catholic source.Thank you and may GOD BLESS YOU ALL!

This book is despicable. It is the worst and most tainted horrible non-fiction book written for Christians that I have ever endured the pain of reading. I do not recommend this book for anyone. It's not even worth the paper it is printed on. When I first found the book, I was so excited and thinking that this would be along the lines of something that would have been of great benefit to me during my schooling where I received my BA in Religious Studies. When I first found the book, I was so excited and thinking that this would be along the lines of something that would have been of great benefit to me during my schooling where I received my BA in Religious Studies. Boy was I ever wrong! This book is one of those that twists scriptures and peoples quotes to make it fit whatever point they are trying to make. I am thoroughly disgusted and severely angry at the waste of time and effort that was put into something that could have provided such a blessing. Don't waste your time on the junk that is referred to as a book.

Review 5 for What's the Big Deal About Other Religions? Answering the Questions About Beliefs & Practices
John Ankerberg and Dillon Burroughs compare Christianity to other religions in this non-fiction title, Whats The Big Deal About Other Religions? This educational book is filled with statistics and quotes and comparisons of Christianity, Roman Catholicism, Judaism, Islam, Mormonism, Jehovahs Witnesses, Wicca, Kabbalah, Hinduism, Buddhism, Taoism, Shintoism, Confucianism, New Age, Agnosticism, and Atheism, providing a taste of each belief system.I highly recommend this book as a source to learn about other faiths so that we, as Christians, can learn to witness more effectively. Of course, this book merely scratches the surface of the groups mentioned. But it is a good starting point for broadening your knowledge. This book also contains a discussion guide of questions and a terrific set of endnotes as well as a list of the authors other works on the subject.
