Answers in Genesis God's Design for Life: The World of Plants

The biblically based "Gods Design for Life" series was designed by homeschoolers for homeschoolers! The World of Plants is explored through chapters on life science, plants, roots, leaves, fruits and more. Now designed for grades 1-8, full-color photos, graphs, illustrations, special features and fun facts take the tediousness out of science, while key concepts are continually reinforced and explored through chapter questions, experiments and "What did we learn?" & "Taking it Further" questions. Color-coded by age group, activities are separated for 1st-2nd grade, 3rd-5th grade, and 6th-8th grade students to quickly find their assignments, all of which are conveniently located together.

This easy-to-use curriculum is ideal for anyone who wants to teach life science from a biblical, young-earth point of view. This is one student book of three in the "Gods Design for Life Series"; each contains 35 lessons with one final project to merge all the lessons together. At the pace of 3 lessons a week (approximately 30-45 minutes for each), you can cover the 3-book series (other books sold separately) within a year. 144 partially reproducible pages, softcover with glossary and index. Grades 1-8. NKJV Scripture used.

The sold-separately God's Design for Life Teacher's Supplement features an introduction, appendices, answers to all book questions, worksheets, and quizzes, and includes the Student Supplement CD-Rom with printable student worksheets & tests.

This Third Edition features many improvements! Here are some of the updated changes made to this series:

  • Full-color lessons
  • Vocabulary lists in each lesson
  • Glossary
  • Updated content where appropriate
  • Additional pictures, illustrations, and diagrams
  • Beginner section (for grades 1-2) added in the Life and Heaven & Earth series

This series was an answer to our search for a Christ-exalting, biblically sound science curriculum. Written by 2 engineers, the material is scientifically accurate, the presentation is engaging, the extras are helpful (although the curriculum can be used without them), and our entire family has been learning - and ENJOYING learning - using this series.

This is a wonderful curriculum written from a Christian perspective. The experiments are easy to do. My children (grades 3 and 6) love this series and beg to do science lessons!

The idea behind this series is wonderful; unfortunately, the execution fails miserably. The revised version while tremendously better than the original is still a complete waste of money. The depth is about right for a 1st - 3rd grade level. The experiments, and that term is used very loosely with these books are usually cheesy, even to kids. The work that it would take to adapt these books to use for a child above the 3rd grade would be tremendous and the end result would be that you maybe used the table of contents as an outline. Even though the depth is appropriate for around the 1st - 3rd grade level the interest and fun really isnt there. While these books are written from a Christian perspective even that isnt done as well as it could or should be. Please dont waste your money these. For children in 4th - 8th grade there is a wonderful series that includes Exploring the World of Physics, Exploring the World of Biology, and others. These are wonderful, interesting, factual, Christian science books. Bob Jones and Apologetics are also excellent choices for all grade levels.
