Harvest House Publishers Rebecca's Promise, Rebecca Series #1

Rebecca Keim has just declared her love to John Miller and agreed to become his wife. But she's haunted by her schoolgirl memories of a long ago love-and a promise made and a ring given. Is that memory just a fantasy come back to destroy the beautiful present...or was it real?

When Rebecca's mother sends her back to the old home community in Milroy to be with her aunt during and after her childbirth, Rebecca determines to find answers that will resolve her conflicted feelings.

Faith, love, and tradition all play a part in Rebecca's divine destiny.

I got all 3 books in this series. Loved them all. The only trouble is that I read them all the way through in one sitting and lose a lot of sleep. Seriously, they were great.

I was very disappointed in this book! This is the first book I've read by Jerry Eicher and it makes me not want to read any of his other ones. However, I am reading the second book to the series and I'm only on page 41 and it has been ten times better than the first. "Rebecca's Promise" seemed to drag on forever and nothing exciting ever happened. Everything that happened in the first novel could be summed up into one simple paragraph, it was that uneventful. I also didn't really like the way Eicher depicted the Amish in his novels, other Amish novels I have read seem to have a more acurate depiction. I love Amish novels, but this is the worst one I've read so far. I'm definitely hoping the second novel in the series, "Rebecca's Return" keeps being enjoyable. I also have the "Hannah" series by Jerry Eicher and I'm keeping my fingers crossed that it will not be so boring.

I have been hooked on books about the Amish, but found this book rather dull and slow moving. I absolutely love the books by Beverly Lewis.

Easy to read. Very good witer that you do not want to put the book down. I love how the writer entwines the stories of different families together a few surprises. Took me one week to read it now am into the second book. Faith, love and tradition played an inportant part in Rebecca life and the writer did a beautiful job.

I liked this book a lot, but the think the author goes into too much detail about small things that really doesn't matter to the story line.

Not the most skilled writer but still this was a pleasant read. A comment to the ones who said it was unbelievable for an Amish person to be obsessed with money and putting chips in their lunches. First of all they are human just like the rest of us and I can believe anyone, Amish or not, can be obesessed with money. Secondly, they do indeed eat store bought things like chips. They shop in stores that we shop in, especially Walmart and Aldi. I have shopped along side them in Minnesota. It is an old fashioned belief that they do not use store bought food at all.
