I just finished a 16-week study for our Wednesday evening prayer meetings based on Walking Like Jesus Did. I speak on behalf of the congregation when I say that it has been a fascinating study! As a pastor, I had been looking for a study guide that points the believer to our Master as the example par excellence for Christian living. Walking Like Jesus Did is that study!

McCall's book is without a doubt, one of the most beneficial books I have ever read. The simplicity with which he writes makes it an easy read, but with a powerful, lasting impact. He points us to none other than the living Lord, Jesus Christ. Yet, McCall approaches the Savior with a hands-on, bird's eye view of how to walk in the very footsteps of Christ in everyday situations of life. He makes Christ-following very applicable, desirable, and easy to understand. He clarifies the purpose of why we should follow Christ, and makes a very persuasive case as to the benefits and duties of doing so.In each chapter, he lays out small, digestable portions on the table in order that we may eat of the fruit of Scripture and have it begin to take root within our very own lives. His book, from the very beginning, sets the tone--what a Christian "claims" must line up with what a Christian does--"conduct" (1 John 2:3-6). The book is unlike many secular sources, it is saturated and held together with the glue of Scripture. These are not the ideas of a man, but rather a reiteration of Scripture as found in the Living Word. No argument is made without the support of Scripture and context!What better source for a Christ-follower to study than... Christ himself. McCall challenges to open our eyes and look to Jesus!

As a Seminary student going into ministry, I would have to say Walking Like Jesus did is one of the best books ever written on the study of Christ Character. This book is a must have for anyone who is serious about going into vocational ministry. Beyond just being insightful as to how Christ lived out his earthly ministry, this book gives practical helps on how we can be more like Jesus and help those who come in contact with to more readily follow after him. I trust that I will be using this book often in my future ministries.

This book presents a clear, biblical view of discipleship, reflecting our call to live lives that reflect the life of Jesus. I've used it with those I mentor and we are using it with our young people & college students as well. The study questions make it appropriate for small groups also. Highly recommended.

This is an excellent book for anyone, at any point in their Christian walk - whether a new believer or someone who's followed the Lord for 50 years. It goes a step further than the popular catch phrase "What Would Jesus Do?" and asks the poignant question, "What DID Jesus do, and how must I walk as He did?" The book examines the life of Christ and the pattern He provided for every believer. Each chapter deals with a different character trait of Christ - His meekness, forgiveness, prayer life, patience, compassion, etc., and then addresses what the life of the Christian should look like in light of those truths. At the end of each chapter are discussion questions that would be appropriate for personal and private reflection, or in a group setting. This would be an excellent book for private devotions or for a small group study. It applies to everyone, in any situation - and is heavily immersed in, and supported by Scripture. I found this book to be both very encouraging and very challenging personally, and would highly recommend it.
