Review 1 for Living with Thorns: A Biblical Survival Guide
Living with Thorns by Mary Ann Froehlich is a well-written book on surviving with pain. She refers to the thorn that Paul mentions in his letters and uses that reference as a scriptural basis for dealing with the pain. The first half of the book is about letting us know we are not alone in our pain. In the second half of the book, the author shares her survival techniques for dealing with pain, and living with our own thorns. Each chapter concludes with questions for thought as to how we can apply the information to our own lives. Mary Ann reminds us that God uses our pain for His purposes though we may have no understanding of what those may be. I like that she recognizes our pain and does not dismiss it thought she goes on to gives us ways to cope when we are experiencing out pain. Throughout the book, she includes quotes from many well know writers and speakers in the religious arena. Her survival tools are all biblically based and she give many scriptural references along the way. I found the book to be very comforting and plan to keep it as a scriptural reference on these issues in the future. I was provided a free copy of this book from Discovery House Publishers for review. I was not obligated to provide a positive review. The thoughts and opinions expressed are my own without bias expressed.
