Exactly what I was wanting for more historical depth without having to consently be going to commentaries while trying to read the Word. Only complaint is the color of the pages, and that is only because of my own weak eyes. Obre shading at the bottom of page is a little hard for me to read in some lighting situations.

This is a wonderful Bible that I had planned to give to my son as his first leather Bible. He just turned 10. When I got it I put it up on the shelf to give to him when he turns 16. It is just too grown-up for him. I got him the Adventrue Bible instead and he loves it.

Commentary supports long ages and the gap theory

I could never have imagined myself giving a negative review to the word of God as I believe that Gods word is infallible and without error. This bible is packed with wonderful information and study commentary but this is where my problem lies.
Walter C. Kaiser Jr., who is the author of much of the commentary in this bible is proponent of Long ages and the gap theory which can be seen in his commentary from the very beginning of Genesis in this bible.
He is well known to support this as he did in a debate with Ken Ham where he supported his theory. He is currently on the board of an international bible study where the current study is Genesis and his influence is seen throughout this study.
For those who are looking for a good study bible which will support the inerrancy of scripture, I would recommend the Henry Morris Study Bible.

The presentation is beautiful and the information is readable.I especially like the articles on The Reliability of The Bible.The Cultural and Historic Notes explain so much of the imagery of the scriptures so I can get an accurate picture of what was really happening.The photos......make me want to take a trip to the Holy Land. Great job !

I hope the information in it is accurate. I bought it for my daughter, who is interested in archaeology. The book was bigger than I thought. At first she didn't want another Bible--but when she saw all the interesting pictures and info, she changed her mind. She also liked that her name was imprinted--but I wish the imprinted names were bigger. I didn't look too long at it, since it was a gift, but it seemed to be high quality.

beautiful Bible. I bought it for my son's 13th birthday and he loves the archaeological references. I thought the strap was functional, but it's just a decorative detail. It doesn't wrap around to hold closed.

I purchased this bible for a "has-lost-their-way" relative who is schooling to get her Archaeological Certification thinking it might be a vehicle to get her back into God's Word while addressing a current passion. After reviewing my purchase before gifting it, I am elated and am convinced that God will meet her through it. Full of insight and information that brings history to life in a way she will connect easily with. I purchased a second one for myself and am glad I did now that I've reviewed it in person!

My pastor recommends it! If you love the History or Discovery channels on biblical history, you will love this book. Perfect for the student. The graphics are beautiful and background information is sooooo interesting. Learning about customs and traditions of the country or time period really puts a new perspective. The bible is well made with the stitchery. Someone mentioned the decorative snap. You can see on the other views of the bible that it is decorative. The bible is a little heavier than other study bible, but I don't mind since of the limitless information.

This Bible was given to me as a gift. It has a place in my library as a refence text, but it is way too big & bulky for everyday carry.
The notes are assembled well and the information is very valuable.
Unfortunately, this version shows a front snap. There is NO snap closure. What is stuck on the the front of the bible is a very cheap-looking dummy closure. I wish it could be easily removed.

Great study Bible for anyone interested in biblical and ancient near east history. Its really thick and heavy but it has so much useful and necessary information for the study of both testaments. My grandma bought it for my birthday and when she noticed that the strap was not real, she was rather upset. She also thinks the European leather looks like plastic (and its kind of a bummer that the strap isn't real because the top flap sticks open...). Contents are awesome though!!! Everyone should have this Bible
