Harvest House Publishers sent me a copy of Nick Harrison’s book, “As Grandpa Says,” for review and recommendation. I can unequivocally say this is a delightful book. I was struck by his honesty and his sense of adventure! (He’s a grandpa who wants a skateboard….)

From the first page to the last, you are welcomed and invited to share in the fullness of wisdom garnered by Nick Harrison who clearly adores his role as father and grandpa. Honesty and encouragement percolate through the pages of this delightful book. The combination of quotes, stories and scripture are like “a cord of three strands” connecting and reinforcing the anecdote.

The delicious artwork of Audrey Jeanne Roberts creates a perception of peace and contentment on each page.

A book to be read and reflected upon, to be shared and enjoyed, and to encourage remembering your own “grandpa” stories, this is a perfect gift for a beloved man in your life.

What a beautiful book! My husband and I live in a military community, where many young families don’t have the benefit of grandparents nearby. Nick Harrison offers tender truths and timely wisdom with the gentle, loving voice of a grandfather. This book reminds us that we follow a better, more fulfilling path when we listen and learn from those who’ve come before us.

As Grandpa Says: Timeless Words to Live By

Nick Harrison begins this valuable volume with the assertion "I love growing older." He ends it with Lamentations 3:22-23 which speaks of God's mercies, asserting "Great is your faithfulness." On the pages between, he shares thoughts and wisdom and encouragement.

He reminds us of those simple truths that make life joyous and the deep values that carry us across the chasm of adversity. Sharing the wisdom of his years and experience, he brings the reader to greater understanding of God and a Christian world-view - gently, winsomely. He has created a book to treasure, one to return to time and again.

Audrey Jeanne Roberts' beautiful illustrations are a perfect accompaniment for these thoughts. Her depictions of masculine subjects, rendered with the same fine hand she used to illustrate As Grandma Says, beckon one to spend a little extra time savoring each offering.

This is a book I will treasure for years and will be sharing it with those I love.
